Shannon Minerals Ltd.

.ShanMin was established in 1960. Today, the company is active in the field of spring water, functional spring waters and health drinks and exports various drinks to 8 countries on 2 continents. The Shannon Protein Technologies Ltd as a subsidiary of ShanMin was founded in 2001 to manufacture Sports Nutrition Powders and operates from a purpose-built factory employing the most modern manufacturing techniques which has a current annual capacity of 210,000 kg.

ShanMin has recently moved away from being just a contract manufacturer and turned into an innovative company that is first to the market with a range of functional products. ShanMin currently employs 30 people from almost every scientific and technical discipline employed in their R&D department. The main products of Shannon Protein Technologies Ltd are protein powders for sport uses and well-being, especially to prevent the loss of muscle, increase strength, help reduce body fat, aid recovery and maintain fitness.

ShanMin will be responsible for the drink sector in this project. The development of a cholesterol-lowering health drink fits exactly in the portfolio of health-improving products and is in accordance with the company’s recent plans to approach the health food sector and build up a distribution network with health food stores. The introduction of the new cholesterol-lowering drink will also help ShanMin developing new markets along with their functional beverages range. Willie Wixted, food technologist, will co-ordinate the activities of ShanMin and together with Gillian O’Shea, head of QM and with a degree in food science, will develop the drinks.
