CreaNut was founded in 2002 as the worldwide sales & marketing organisation of Swedish Oat Fibre (SOF), which was founded in 1989. The company has about 30 employees and is dedicated to research in the field of bioactivity of dietary fibres, especially of oat. In the first years of the business, research played the main role. After intensive studies, CreaNut gained health claims for OatWell oat bran ingredients. After the FDA authorized the use of health claims for soluble fibres (b-glucans) from oats in 1997, in 2004 a Cholesterol lowering health claim was approved in UK on oats and OatWell oat bran in response to a petition filed by CreaNut and SOF. Today, CreaNut additional to sales & marketing is also responsible for research, legal aspects as health claims and for close co-operations with universities and companies.
With a production plant, which was recently modernised to meet highest possible standards for large scale food production and environmental demands, the company today produces different oat products that are marketed worldwide through the distribution network built by CreaNut. The oat products are applied in a wide range of food products, such as breakfast cereals, bread / biscuits, powder drinks and cereal bars.
In the project CreaNut will provide oat bran ingredients to the food producers. It is their special interest to promote the scientific progress in the field of bioactive ingredients in order to advance the legal situation about health claims in Europe. That is why Creanut will be a member of the scientific board and bring to this role a great deal of experience in marketing and health claim issues.
